Bringing Classroom Learning Into a Real Business Environment
For students preparing for their future careers, gaining practical experience can be just as valuable as academic learning.
During their placements with Advantage Investment, Jasmine King and Stephen Williams gained insight into different areas of the business, from marketing and content creation to investor engagement.
Working closely with our marketing team, Jasmine supported activity across email marketing, social media, content planning and campaign development. Rather than observing from the outside, she was encouraged to contribute to real projects and understand how marketing decisions are made in a commercial environment.
A key part of her experience involved supporting marketing activity for our exclusive development, Tower Residencies in Blackpool. Working on a live project allowed Jasmine to see how strategy, creativity and commercial objectives come together to create campaigns that connect with audiences.
Reflecting on her placement, Jasmine said: “From the outset, Lucy Slater and the team made me feel welcome and supported. Throughout my placement, Lucy has been an invaluable mentor, providing me with guidance, insight and encouragement within the industry. Her support played a significant role in helping me make the most of every learning opportunity, as she tailored the placement to align with my ambitions within marketing. This positively contributed to both my personal and professional development.”
Jasmine’s experience demonstrates how practical industry placements can bridge the gap between academic learning and professional experience, while giving students the confidence and support to develop skills they can carry forward into their future careers.
Understanding the Story Behind the Development
While Jasmine gained hands-on experience within the marketing team at our head office, Stephen had the opportunity to experience another side of Advantage Investment by visiting our Blackpool development in person during a content creation day.
Being on location provided an opportunity to experience the development first-hand and understand the wider story behind the investment opportunity. From seeing the transformation taking place across Blackpool to experiencing the town’s landmarks, visitor numbers and regeneration activity, Stephen gained a deeper appreciation of the factors that influence property investment decisions.
As part of the content creation process, Stephen was able to see how the location itself plays an important role in communicating the opportunity behind a development.
“For the first day of my internship I was able to accompany the Advantage team for a content day and focus on their new site in Blackpool. It was a really memorable day, especially travelling to Blackpool for the first time. It was a hot, busy summer day and you could see exactly why Blackpool is such a lucrative place to invest right now, with a huge influx of people around key landmarks like the Blackpool Tower, Pleasure Beach and the town centre.”
Stephen’s experience highlights that successful developments go beyond the property itself, reflecting the wider location, community and potential that surrounds it.
More Than a Placement: Building Confidence and Experience
